José María Tomasi (1649–1713)
Cardinal
Sicilian Theatine, cardinal and great scholar of the liturgy, José María Tomasi renounced the titles and wealth of his family to serve God.
Biography
He mastered several ancient languages and published important biblical, patristic and liturgical texts, helping to recover treasures of the Church's tradition. His vast erudition never separated him from prayer or attention to the simple faithful, for whom he wrote works of spiritual formation.
